    College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy came into existence in 1955 as Government Veterinary College; later renamed as Kerala Veterinary College and Research Institute. The college was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Sri E M S Namboothiripad. Initially, the college was affiliated to Kerala University and subsequently to Calicut University in 1966. When the Kerala Agricultural University was formed in February 1972, the college was transferred to it and was renamed as College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The college is located on the side of the National Highway (NH 47) at Mannuthy, about 5 km from the Thrissur town.
